Tungsten Carbide Roller Classification

Tungsten cemented carbide rollers can be classified into two main types based on their structure: solid carbide rolls and composite hard alloy rolls.

Solid carbide rolls are made entirely from a single piece of tungsten cemented carbide. They have excellent wear resistance, high hardness, and are typically used in applications where extreme durability and precision are required, such as in wire drawing and rolling mills.

Composite hard alloy rolls, on the other hand, are made by combining a tungsten cemented carbide outer layer with a steel or cast iron core. This design improves the toughness and overall performance of the roll, making it suitable for applications where resistance to impact and shock is important, such as in steel rolling mills.

Both solid carbide rolls and composite hard alloy rolls have their own advantages and are used in various industries depending on the specific requirements of the application.
