(1) High hardness, wear resistance and red-hardness
Cemented carbide hardness at room temperature can reach 86 ~ 93HRA, equivalent to 69 ~ 81HRC. in 900 ~ 1000 ℃ can maintain high hardness, and excellent wear resistance. Compared with high-speed tool steel, the cutting speed can be 4 to 7 times higher, life 5 to 80 times longer, can cut hard materials with hardness up to 50HRC.
(2) Strength, high modulus of elasticity
The compressive strength of cemented carbide up to 6000MPa, elastic modulus of (4 ~ 7) × 105MPa, are higher than high-speed steel. However, its flexural strength is lower, generally 1000 to 3000 MPa.

(3) Corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance is good
Generally good resistance to corrosion of atmosphere, acid, alkali, etc., not easy to oxidation.

Because of the high hardness and brittleness of cemented carbide, no more cutting or regrinding after powder metallurgy forming and sintering, and when it is necessary to rework, only electric machining such as EDM, wire cutting, electrolytic grinding or special grinding wheel can be used. Usually a certain specification of products made of cemented carbide is brazed, bonded or mechanically clamped on the tool body or mold specific for use.
