Cleaning tungsten carbide rollers requires attention to detail to avoid damaging their surface. Here are the common cleaningcarbide rolls methods and steps:

Cleaning with Solvent

  1. Prepare the cleaning solvent: Select a suitable solvent based on the nature of the dirt on the tungsten carbide rollers. For general oil and grease stains, organic solvents such as acetone, ethanol or trichloroethylene can be used. If there are metal chips and other impurities, a solvent with a certain degreasing and rust removal effect, such as a special metal cleaner, may be needed.
  2. Rinse with clean water: After soaking and scrubbing, take out the rollers and rinse them thoroughly with clean water to remove the remaining solvent and dirt. Make sure that no solvent residue remains on the surface of the rollers.
  3. Dry the rollers: Use clean, dry compressed air or a dry, soft cloth to dry the rollers to prevent water spots from forming on the surface.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

  1. Prepare the ultrasonic cleaner: Fill the ultrasonic cleaner with an appropriate amount of cleaning solution. The cleaning solution can be a special ultrasonic cleaning agent or a mixture of the above-mentioned solvents and water in a certain proportion.
  2. Place the rollers: Put the tungsten carbide rollers into the cleaning tank of the ultrasonic cleaner, making sure they are completely immersed in the cleaning solution and do not touch the bottom and walls of the tank to avoid damage.
  3. Set the parameters: Set the appropriate ultrasonic frequency and cleaning time according to the degree of dirt and the characteristics of the rollers. Generally, the frequency is between 20-80 kHz and the cleaning time is 5-15 minutes.
  4. Finish cleaning and dry: After the ultrasonic cleaning is completed, take out the rollers and rinse them with TC ROLLER  clean water and dry them with clean compressed air or a dry soft cloth as in the solvent cleaning method.

Mechanical Cleaning

  1. Brush cleaning: Use a soft-bristled brush, such as a nylon brush, to gently brush the surface of the tungsten carbide rollers. When brushing, do not use excessive force to avoid scratching the roller surface. This method is suitable for removing loose dirt and dust on the surface.
  2. Air gun blowing: Use a clean air gun to blow away the dust and small debris on the surface of the rollers. The air pressure should be moderate to prevent the impact of high-pressure air from damaging the roller surface. This method is usually used in combination with brush cleaning to achieve better cleaning results.

In the process of cleaning tungsten carbide rollers, it is necessary to avoid using hard objects to scratch the surface of the TC rollers and to prevent chemical reactions between the cleaning agent and the tungsten carbide material that could affect the performance of the rollers. If the rollers are severely worn or damaged, in addition to cleaning, it may be necessary to consider repairing or replacing them.
